Ciao

Ciao everyone!
For the past 2 days we have been in the lovely country of Italy. It is beautiful!
Yesterday we docked at Naples and started the day by hiking up Mt. Vesuvius, which was QUITE exhausting. After that we went into Sorrento and walked around and ate lunch. Then we ended our day by visiting Pompeii. We went on a long but fascinating tour, which of course I loved.

Today we went to Rome! This was the port that I had been excited about the most. It was amazing! We visited the Colosseum, we saw the Circus Maximus, and I threw a coin into the Trevi Fountain just like Lizzie McGuire! And last we went to the Vatican, which was spectacular. The statues and paintings and tapestries were gorgeous, and the Sistine Chapel was so incredible. So we technically visited 2 countries today!

Tomorrow we will dock at La Spezia, where we will visit Florence to shop and see some of Michelangelo's other works such as David. I miss all of you and hopefully I will hear from some of you soon!

All Aboard!

So my last post was in the morning so we had not been on our excursion yet, but we went on a bus tour into Mdina and Mosta, Malta. It was VERY pretty and so interesting. The country is more than 7,000 years old! And it has a lot of fascinating history involving knights and whatnot.

Today we went to Tunis, Tunisia, which is a country on the tip of Africa. It was very different than what I expected, mostly because the culture was more Arabic than what I stereotyped as "African." We went into the medina, which is where they had the markets (similar to Chinatown) and to the ruins of Carthage. Then we came back to the boat and watched the premier of Prince of Persia, which came out in the USA yesterday I believe. It was amazing by the way; everyone should go and see it.

Now we're sitting and watching Mulan before we go to sleep. We have an early start tomorrow morning to head into Naples and visit Pompeii and Vesuvius! I'm excited because I'm so Latin-y.
They just sang "I'll Make a Man Out of You" on Mulan. What a lovely note to end on!

La Valletta, Malta

Good morning!

Right now I am sitting in a café in La, Valletta, Malta, which is a little island. In an hour we are going to go on one of the Port Adventures around the city, so I'll make sure to take lots of pictures!

Yesterday was a day at sea, and the cruise ship has been amazing! Complete with Disney songs, movies, and characters, and many of you know that those things are all I need to be happy in life. At 6 pm (11 am for you) we will head out to Tunis, Tunisia on the tip of Africa, and we will spend our day there tomorrow. I hope all of you are having a wonderful first full week of summer and I will try to post more later!

p.s. Those last two pictures are still from Barcelona, but I will make sure to post some more from other places as soon as I can!

On the ship

Hello, all. Looks like this strange internet on the ship will not let me post pictures, but no worries, I'll just write notes and post all of my pictures when I get to England.

The Disney Magic is amazing! I've already seen my favorite characters, which as many of you already know is pretty much all I need to be happy. As soon as we arrived we went to the pool and Beauty and the Beast began playing on a Jumbtron right next to the pool!

Well we're about to go see the show for tonight and eat, but I'll try this again later! (:

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona!

I am writing this on 5/24/10—12:57 pm, but there is not an Internet connection but I will post this as soon as I get the chance.

So it’s our first day. I’m running on very little sleep from the flight, but other than that I feel good!

The streets of Barcelona are a lot like the streets of New York City. It’s neat to see just how similar places like this are to the ones we know; the main difference is the language. Unfortunately, my knowledge of Spanish is basically the “Spanish is fun, so give it a try” book we had to learn in 5th grade, so I am not much help in that area. A lot of people do speak English, though.

When we got here our rooms were not yet ready, so we stowed our luggage and took a walk. We quickly realized that something was strange—ALL of the shops were closed with the gates down! After asking someone, we learned that it’s Spain’s 2nd Easter. I still have no idea what that means, but apparently it’s very important. So shopping will be done tomorrow.

We’re about to go on a Hop On/Hop Off Tour, on which I will definitely take some pictures. I apologize in advance for the irregularity of my posts; it’s hard to know when and where I will have good Internet connection on the cruise. But I will try my hardest to post really exciting updates as often as I can!

Tomorrow.

Actually, we leave tomorrow to Barcelona, but the cruise does not start until Wednesday. So we have a couple days of sightseeing and catching up on our sleep before we set sail!

5 Days!

So I'm pretty excited for this cruise. I've never been on a Disney cruise before, and I've only been to the United Kingdom, never anywhere else in Europe.

Some people have told me Disney cruises are for younger kids and I won't have a good time. These people obviously do not know me at all. I know for a fact that I will absolutely adore every moment of it, from going to the character breakfasts to pirate night on the ship to the adventures in all of the different countries! Oh, and I'm pretty sure my whole family will enjoy the free room service as well (complete with Mickey ice cream).
